Station Information
An Overview
Boston's South Station serves rail passengers, train travelers and a lunchtime crowd, all on the site of what was once the largest, busiest and certainly one of the most luxurious train stations in the world.
As Boston's gateway, the Great Room, at the station's core holds many surprises. It regularly
plays hosts to exhibits ranging from celebrations of Boston's leading figures to New England's rich history. It serves as a concert hall featuring local musicians and nationally known talent. It provides an opportunity to interact with the programs that make our community so dynamic, from dedicated public services to non-profit organizations. It entertains Boston's Financial District and New England families with special events including dance, holiday train exhibits and an annual celebration of National Train Day.
Commuters, business people and visitors, as they have for the past century, can all find something at South Station: Boston's Great Room.
